Hi friend!

April was another great month for FORKLIFT FLOWERPOT. Big news:

**It is now possible to complete the game!**

Check out [FORKLIFT FLOWERPOT](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2073330/FORKLIFT%5FFLOWERPOT%5FBotanical%5FInvestigator/?ref=toomuchtomato.com) and [TORSO TENNIS](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2824780/TORSO%5FTENNIS/?ref=toomuchtomato.com) on Steam!

The game being “completable” doesn’t mean it’s done. Far from it. The clues are not very clear, the puzzles need a lot of playtesting, and there’s a lot more art and music needed to fill out the game’s world.

Still, this feels like a momentous milestone that deserves celebration!

This month I also made a new trailer for a secret upcoming showcase that will be livestreamed across the showcase channel, IGN, and Gamespot. More on that soon, because I’m not allowed to share about my participation yet!

## FORKLIFT FLOWERPOT Jam Week

You may have noticed I’ve been a bit less active on Discord, Twitch, and on the internet in general. Or maybe you totally didn’t notice that this month’s Tomato Club issue is 6 days late! I’ve unplugged for a little to jam on the game behind the scenes and work on the \[SPOILER HEAVY\] aspects of the game.

In particular, I spent one week with an analog todo list - post it notes on a wooden board that then get moved onto a calendar in a binder. Sometimes inventing little systems like this gets me really excited to finish tasks.

And I absolutely finished some tasks - now it is actually possible to reach all of the secret areas and discover the ending of the game! I really enjoyed this week of limited exposure to the internet, so I have kept that up a little bit.

## What I’ve been Playing

I’ve been deckbuilding lately.

The demo for Sokpop Collective’s autobattler/deckbuilding hybrid, ***Grail*** absolutely sucked me in. Your selected cards play out automatically one by one against enemy decks for a really nice mixture of randomness and strategy. I really enjoy how your deck gets matched up against other players’ builds as part of the run.

The synergies were really fun to explore, even with only one class available in the demo. Something TORSO TENNIS players might enjoy is that Grail has a truly diverse set of Cheese cards that any build can splash into. You can also dive in deep (like splashing but bigger) for a full-on cheese build. We love a cheese build.

We love a cheese build

Deckbuilding games can be intoxicating. But why *Slay the* *Spire* when you can Slay your Todo List? *(I apologize to anyone within earshot of me over the last two weeks who had to hear me say repeatedly in an increasingly annoying influencer voice.)*

Since I have a baby on the way, I’ve felt compelled to fix some of the more dangerous things in our living space, like a rotting deck with rusty nails sticking out. A lot of things are suddenly higher priority to get done in the next 4 weeks

But, there is something deeply wrong with me. I think I can learn how to do anything. I had been playing so much Grail that I thought building a deck in real life would be pretty easy! I’m like a living example of the D-K Effect.

not that D-K

On the Peak of “Mount Stupid” and charging forward.

So I decided to redo the boards and railing on the deck myself to save money rather than hiring someone. I thought of it like doing contract work where I could do something physical and take a break from game development. Luckily, my dad helped out to make sure I didn’t screw up too bad. And it came out ok!

Bean enjoyed the hard work.

## Community Spotlight

Corolla has been sharing some great illustrations for their Anime-styled Mech Combat game on Discord. The world building and locations really pull me in.

Tony (Studio Sat-C) released his first game, [*Sleepwalker*](https://studio-sat-c.itch.io/sleepwalker-gb?ref=toomuchtomato.com), a platformer for Gameboy. Not many games are this relatable. The goal of the game is to find best sleeping spot in the world. You can grab the ROM on [itch.io](https://studio-sat-c.itch.io/sleepwalker-gb?ref=toomuchtomato.com) and there might be a physical release in the future!
